Abilene

This week Chase and I went to Abilene for a few days. It was super fun to see family and friends. It's so weird to hang out with a couple of the old college buds (Leslie and Sara) and all three of our kids. We're all moms....so crazy. I mean, how old are we! ;) I'll post a picture of all of us when one of them forwards me one. (So don't forget to send me one guys!) Chase also got to meet some of our cousins that live in A-town. It was actually the first time for me to meet one of them. Boone is a few months younger than Chase. We shopped, went to step class, ate at our favorite restaurants, and just hung out and talked. We actually stayed up kinda late. (I mean, by the time to get a 2 month old, a 5 month old, and a 2 1/2 year old to bed, you have to stay up late to get any good catching up in.) Chase was really good on the trip too. He either slept or just sat there "talking" or watched Baby Einstein on the lap top.

Last night Preston and I put together his jumper and he really seemed to like it...even though there wasn't much jumping involved...he pretty much just sat there and smiled at Lucy.

Brrrrrrr...It's Cold Out!

Wow...it's 15 degrees outside right now and there is snow on the ground! The high today was 18 so Chase and I didn't venture outdoors. The most I did outside was take this picture (sorry it's a little blurry) and go get the mail. Sadly enough I'm still in my pajamas from last night! haha. Preston is out on business but Leah and her roommate Asheley are going to spend the night with me. I was about to go crazy with cabin fever until they came over! Now we're watching Christmas Vacation...what a clasic!

18 months?....what?

So last night a man came up to me while Chase was standing up in my lap (with support of course) and said "cute kid, what is he, about 18 months?". What? Are you serious? Yes, he was serious. haha. I told him that Chase was 4 1/2 months old and he was like shocked. I know Chase is big...but not that big...right?

Sweet Peas

Yesterday Chase sat in his highchair and ate for the first time. Today I remembered to take pictures and video! I expected to get some funny faces when I fed him sweet peas for the first time but he really seemed to like it and ate it just fine. Click here to see the video.

Picture Page Updated

Check out the new pics on the picture page.

Lots of New Things

Well, the Watterson's have been busy the last week and a half! First, Preston's sister, Wendi, got married to Wade Holmes. It was a great wedding and we all had a wonderful time. Wendi was absolutely georgous. Not to mention that Chase gained an uncle during the whole event. Next to the bride and groom I'd say that Chase was third in line for attension. No one can resist a 4 month old in a tux!

After being in Houston for a few days we went to Austin to visit our friends Sara and Luke and their new baby, Cooper. We had a great few days visiting them. This picture shows with great detail the difference between a 4 month old and a 1 month old! haha.

We then left Austin and drove to my parent's place to have Thanksgiving. We got to see lots of family and friends, and ride 4-wheelers, and we even went to a football game. The Wildcats were in the play-offs. Too bad they lost. We saw a couple of movies and of course ate too much turkey and dressing.

When you are a baby your life is full of "firsts." Here are a few of Chase's firsts from the last week or so:

First time to:
1) meet some of his great grand parents.
2) wear a tux or go to a wedding.
3) willingly eat solid food.
4) drink apple juice.
5) swing on a real swing set.
6) ride a 4-wheeler.
7) roll over in his bouncy chair.
8) go to a football game.
9) go to the movies (he sat there through most of the movie but had to be taken out near the end...thanks mom!)
10) cry it out....actually that is happening right now while I type this. I'm trying to teach him to go to sleep when he is put in his crib at night. He's the right age to start trying. I'm listening to him "yell/talk" on the baby monitor right now (he doesn't really cry). I went in for my first 5 minute "soothing talk" check-in and he was on his stomach. That brings me to #11....
11) roll over from back to front.

Here are some pics from the things mentioned above:

He got the TALL genes!

So we just got back from the doctor's office today. Chase got a good bill of health and a few shots. I was better prepared for the shots this time so only one of us shed tears this go-around. Chase was so good while we were there (well...until shot time that is). The doctor was checking out his hips and Chase was actually laughing outloud...just squeeling...it was so cute...I guess it tickled! The doctor (who usually dosen't seem to excited about Chase) was laughing too at how funny it was. He said that usually babies don't like that. Chase now weighs exactly 15 lbs and is 26 inches long. That's 50% for weight and 90% for height! He's tall and skinny. Actually since his weight has dropped off a bit (as far as percentages go) the doctor said it would be OK to introduce some rice cereal if I want. The last couple of weeks Chase had started waking up to eat like 3 times at night....not fun for me. Hopefully this will get him back on his wonderful sleeping schedule that he used to have!

It has begun

A few days ago Preston, Chase and I went to eat at a new restaurant in town. Chase sat in his carrier most of the time but after we were pretty much done eating he wanted out. I picked him up and sat him in my lap. My plate was already gone and I pulled my drink to me to take a sip. Before I knew what was happening Chase grabbed the rim of the cup and pulled it over on us. Man was it cold! Fortunately it got mostly on me (Chase would have cried had more of my ice cold water gotten on him.) Preston and I just looked at each other and said "so it begins." He's starting to grab everything...we'll have to clear out a space in front of him whenever we go out to eat now!

Another Picture

Here's a good picture from Wendi and Wade's shower that we went to a couple of weekends ago that I just got. They are getting married next month! Mama Mel bought Chase a tux to wear! You'll have to be looking for pictures of that coming soon!

Chase is getting soooo big. I can hardly believe it! He's holding his head up really well now, he's rolling over, he's discovered and likes to grab his feet, he's interested in toys and will try grabbing them with his hands (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't), he sits in his exersaucer and loves it (pictured), and not to mention that he and his infant carrier are getting REALLY heavy to carry around! I feel like I should be gaining a ton of muscle in my arms...too bad they don't look it.

P.S. I came in dead last in our fantasy football league this week. I told Mel (who came in 2nd to last) that we need to be on the 8th grade B-team...if there were such a fantasy league.

Guess what Chase can do...and where he's been!

Chase can roll over! Well...it's probably more like a fall-over but he does it all by himself! I've tried to capture it on video and I haven't gotten a very good one yet, but here's one to look at. (Click here to see) He did it on Saturday night while he was hanging out with daddy. That's right, I missed the first one (I was at a girls night), but I'm really glad Preston got to witness this "first" since it's likely that I'll catch most of them since I'm with Chase more.

And where has Chase been?... Well he's three months old and he has been to these states: New York, New Jersey, & Pennsylvania (and of course OK and TX). Chase and I tagged along with Preston to a business trip this past week. We flew into and out of Philadelphia, were in Atlantic City most of the time, and took a day trip to NYC. We took the Staten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty over to the city and took a cab to Times Square where we had dinner. Very fun. Below is a picture of Chase and Preston in the front of a cab. Chase is looking at the driver like "I don't know about this guy." haha. (Notice the ACU hat, Leslie!) We also loved being in Atlantic City. Some friends (Rick, Lori, and Carter) were also there so the moms and babies had fun during the day shopping, checking out the boardwalk, eating, and more shopping. I think Preston and Rick really enjoyed their conference. In the evenings we went to dinner and saw the sites around town. Lori and I did manage to lose one dollar each at the slot machines in one of the many casinos. But we were quickly asked to leave the casino floor because our kids were not 18 or older. I was like "no kidding...he's not 18 yet...he's asleep in a stroller." Oh well, probably all for the best. I'm sure we looked really classy rolling our babies into the casino and sitting down at the slot machines. haha. Chase got to go swimming for the first time and wear his swimsuit that Grammy bought him. Too bad it will probably be the one and only time to wear it. :) As far as the plane ride went Chase did really well. He slept probably 90% of the time we were in the air. He did have about 10 good minutes of annoying everyone around us. Oh well, we'll never see them again. :)

Last weekend, before our trip we went to Dallas to Wendi and Wade's shower. It was a lot of fun to see all of the Wattersons. This weekend my sister, Amy, came to visit and we had a great relaxing weekend just hanging out. Chase got to see all of his aunts (and almost uncles) in the last week or so!

Oh and I've also included a picture of Lucy in her hoodie!

3 Months

Chase: So Chase is 3 months old today! Wow! Where is the time going?! He's really a lot of fun right now. He's very interactive and likes to smile at everyone. He's starting to be very interested in his feet and hands. He'll be grabbing toys and everything else with those hands before I know it! I keep catching the little stinker trying to suck his thumb (pictured). I try not to let him but I may not win this battle.

Supper Thyme: You can just call me Betty Crocker! Last night some of my girl friends and I went to a place called Supper Thyme where you make 12 meals that you can take home and freeze and cook when you want. It was really fun and really easy! They had free drinks, cookies, and pizza for us to munch on while we cooked. They even cleaned everything up for us when we were done at each station. And now I have 12 ready to heat/cook meals in my freezer! I recommend it to anyone!

Preston: Preston recently got a new job in his company. (Same place, new title.) I think he's really going to like it. He's also hard at work in grad school at OU. He had a test today...hope it went well! Even with all this he manages to be the leader of our fantasy football league! Way to go P. But just know, I'm planning to make a come-back!

Prayer Request: Our friends Jen and Josh are having a very important ultrasound to see how their baby is doing tomorrow. Please pray that they will get a good report.

In comes the cold weather!

Weather: When I got up this morning it was 50 something outside....I don't know if it still is or not but it's pretty chilly! I love it...for now. :) I was really getting tired of the super hot weather all the way through September. Yesterday as the cold front rolled in I decided to take Lucy and Chase for a walk. I bundled Chase up with a blankie and I put my coat on and off we went. We were a good ways from the house when low and behold it started sprinkling. I put Chase's shades over him and my hood on me and took off back to the house at a jog....then it started raining harder. What can you do but laugh and run faster...poor Lucy, I just drug her along...Chase was smiling through the whole thing though!

Chase Update: Chase is really interactive these days...he loves to look at your face and smile...even laugh some times. Leah found that his thighs are ticklish...so cute when he laughs about that! He'll have a "conversation" with me by making "ah" noises and then I'll do it back and then he'll do it again. He'll also hang onto a toy and put it in his mouth if I actually put the toy in his hand...he still hasn't gotten the grabbing thing down.

Click on Chase's picture to see a bigger view.

Lost!: So my favorite show by far is Lost! So good. If you're not a fan you should just skip over this paragraph. Here's where I would like for you to post a comment and let me know your theories or predictions about the show. Preston and I got online and looked around at what people thought about last night's show. There are lots of "sub-websites" that have been created for our entertainment....they are meant to look real but are obviously for the show...created by the guys at ABC no doubt. I have a theory. I realize that this is not a valid theory as far as how the show is going to turn out but here goes...stay with me here: So Jack said that this (the hatch and the guy in it) was probably all a big experiment and the guys that set it up are sitting back having a good laugh seeing if he would continue to put in the numbers and press the button. Now Jack and John seem to be sucked into this "experiment" where they feel that they just have to press the button every 108 minutes...all for nothing... Now here we are, the audience, sucked into watching Lost and feel that we have to gather in front of the TV every week and read all their fake websites and the guys back at ABC are sitting back having a good laugh seeing if we, the viewers, will continue to do it, watching the show and visiting websites that are all for nothing. We're just a greater experiment. But you know what, I'll gladly take up the challenge and be a part of this thing because there's no way I'm missing it next Wednesday!

27

27 - that's how old I am now. Wow! Where does the time go? My birthday was yesterday and I can hardly believe that I'm only 3 years away from 30. I mean...people who are 30 are...well...old. Or at least they used to be. They don't seem that way much any more. My friend Heidi told me that she thinks odd numbered ages seem older than even ones. Think about it. I think she's right. Anywho, Preston took off work early yesterday so that he, Chase, and I could spend the afternoon together. We ran some errands, went shopping with my birthday money, ate sushi at the mall, and had a couple of friends over for dinner and a friendly game of Lord of the Rings Monopoly. That's right...you heard me...Lord of the Rings Monopoly. Pretty fun game...for Monopoly. Although I think they should have let me win since it was my birthday. Today Chase and I are just hanging out around the house. We may go for a walk at the park later. The weather is awesome here! I'm hoping to go out to eat at the Olive Garden tonight as a Birthday+1 treat. :)

Here's a recent pic of Chase. Look Aunt Amy...it's my pearl snap shirt!

A Baby Free Weekend

Preston and I had our church class retreat this weekend. It was really fun. For the third year running we were the retreat planners. I think we pulled off another good one. We stayed in a cabin on the Illinois River and some of us even went on a 3 hour float. We had a really good time. Mom and dad kept Chase for us over the weekend at our house. Chase did really well for them and I'm sure the grandparents had a blast too! I managed to eat my weight in junk food over the last few days! It's always dangerous for everyone to bring their own snacks to share. :) We also played lots of board games and volleyball too. I was sure ready to come home on Sunday and see my little boy though!

I love fair food!!!

So I went to the Oklahoma State Fair with some friends on Saturday. It was much fun. And I got to eat my favorite fair foods....roasted corn and strawberry crapes...mmmmm. I didn't actually eat as much as I thought I would though. I guess that's good. I came home with $12 that I had intended on buying more grease on a stick with. We just walked around and took it all in. Its weird how fairs bring in a different type of people...you know what I'm talking about.

Speaking of the State Fair, I got kicked out of the OK State Fair only 3 short years ago with my good friend Heidi. We were throwing popcorn from one of the rides...seriously we were seeing who could make it in the trash cans below. But this Carnie lady thought we were spitting on her and her customers at the "pull a ducky out of the kiddy pool booth." She went crazy and waited for us, yelling, at the bottom of the ride. She called the security cops over and they asked us to leave. haha. I would like to say that I was like 13 when this happened but no, I was 23.

Sometimes we're happy...sometimes we're not

These pictures are all from this morning...when he was happy.

He was not happy, however, after the doctor's appointment today. :( Chase got three shots today and was not very excited about it. And neither was I. He was so content before the shots...he didn't mind being weighed or measured or being checked out by the doctor. He even smiled at the nurse when she came in...but she quickly wiped that smile right off his faced. He cried like I have never heard him cry before...it was so sad...I even shed a few tears myself. :( I had always thought it was ridiculous in the past when I heard about moms crying when their babies got shots...I'm mean they're just babies and they'll forget about it in like 2 seconds...and it's for their own good. But it was different today when it was MY baby crying because he was hurt.

Anyway, he weighed 12.8 pounds, was 23 1/2 inches long, and had a head circumference of 15 1/2 inches. That's in the 75% for height and weight and 40% for the head. I don't guess he inherited his mom's huge head....but got his dad's smaller head instead!

He Laughs!

Chase laughed out loud yesterday! He did it once for me and once for Preston. It's so cute! He hasn't done it for me any today but hopefully he will do it again soon and I'll catch it on video!

In the mean time here is some video of him in his "kick and play" chair. Looks like he's got the kicking part down! Click here to see it...

He went to mom's day out today and he did really well! And so did I! I got soooo much work done today. It was great! :)

Fantasy Football

So I'm trying really hard to be interested in Fantasy Football this year. Since it's something that Preston is really into I'm thinking it will be fun for us to keep track of it together and it might just make me more interested in the games since they will be on in my house anyway. So Preston is in 3 leagues and I am in one. We are both in a league with some of our church friends. I'm not too sure that at this point my team is doing so well. We'll see. I'm still working on the "interested" part. I just slept through the first game we sat down to watch together. And I'm still working on learning player's names. The other day Melanie asked me some of my players that I had picked for this week and I couldn't even remember them. haha. Maybe next week Mel. Ask me again. :)

Things are going well around here. We've had a great weekend. It was nice to be in town. Preston mowed the lawn. I cleaned house. Chase ate, slept, and pooped. Lucy followed me around the house as usual and was generally "mad" at the vacuum cleaner. Preston and I sat in the hot tub and that was great. (It was only my 3rd or fourth time to sit in it...I had only been in it a few times before we found out I was pregnant. We tried to sit in it earlier this week but it was so hot we couldn't even put our legs in....I mean, we could have cooked dinner in there!)

This week will be the first week that Chase goes to "mom's day out"! I'm really excited. I'm glad to have some time to work on my home business uninterrupted.

Adventures in Traveling with Baby

We had a super Labor Day weekend. Not only did we have Monday off but we decided to take Tuesday too! Chase is a really good traveler. Much like his mom and dad he seems to really like to go places. There is nothing Preston and I would rather spend our money on than traveling. As you may know, last weekend we traveled to my home town (4.5 hours normally...5.5 with Chase) but this weekend was quite a bit further (9 hours). Of course we did take a major detour b/c someone missed the exit and didn't realize it for a really long time. I won't say who was driving but I can tell you it wasn't me. :) We had a fun time just hanging out and going out on the lake. The boys even got a game of golf in. Preston's parents even drove in from Houston just to babysit Chase while we were out on the lake on Saturday! Talk about above and beyond grandparenting! Then on Monday, the three of us headed out to Austin to visit Chase's Aunt Wendi and almost Uncle Wade (they're getting married in November...and Chase has a tux to wear!...but that's another story). That was really fun and I would like to add that Wade and I killed Preston and Wendi in Spades. :) It was a great weekend...and with every good weekend comes a few mishaps to remember. Here are a few:

1. Missing the exit...as mentioned above
2. Me falling down in the middle of the night while holding Chase. Thank goodness it was Preston's trundle bed that I fell on! It was a pretty smooth landing...considering.
3. The boat (it was a rented pontoon) not starting for like 20 minutes...we finally drifted into a random boat dock so we could get on dry land.
4. The boat almost sinking. Imagine driving along and the front of the boat starts nose-diving under the water! Good thing the driver threw it in reverse quick enough to not cause any damage.
5. The dog pooping on the boat. Poor Moly (our friend's Lab mix)...she just needed to go and didn't have any options...haha. Everyone started screaming "NOOOOOO" when we realized what was happening.
6. Did I mention Wade and I won spades?
7. Wendi making fun of the massive amounts of stuff (mostly baby stuff) we had with us since, in the past, we have generally been known as "light packers."
7. And here's the kicker....On our way home on Tuesday we had gotten up really early and headed back to OKC. Chase was sooo good and slept most of the time and was just really content on our trip. When we got about 45 minutes from home we stopped to grab some lunch. We sat down at our table and set Chase (in his infant carrier) on the table. We were eating our lunch when we could clearly hear that he was going "number 2". I thought, OK I'll change his diaper as soon as we get done. But then I looked into his seat and saw that he had had a major blow out. Great. So I picked up his carrier to take him out to the car (no, Taco Cabana does not have a changing table in the bathroom) and quickly found that not only had his diaper leaked into his seat...but it had actually leaked through the seat leaving a nice little puddle right there on our table in the restaurant! I made a bee-line to get outta there with Chase and left Preston there with the rest of his lunch and the "mess." haha. I don't think I can clearly describe it but it must have been a funny sight seeing these two new parents in the parking lot trying to "hose down" a poopy 2 month old. We ended up having to take the liner out of the car seat and just putting blankets in it for him to sit on the rest of the way home! What can you do but laugh.... :)

More Video!

Here's some fun video of Chase. (I know people don't want to watch a long video of my kid and plus it takes up a lot of room on my server so that's why all my videos are short and sweet. :)
Chase smiling...
Chase "talking"...

Oh, and by the way I would also like to say that no one should brag on their kids. Because as soon as you do they prove you wrong. Chase decided to be a late nighter again last night.... (yawn)

Haha...just found some video of Preston when he was first trying out the video camera. Better check this out fast b/c when he sees it he'll probably make me take it off. ha :) Click to watch...

He sleeps!

Chase slept for 8 hours straight last night! And then capped it off with another 3 hours after eating! He went to bed at 8:30 and woke up at 4:30 then slept until 7:30! Yay! Tonight he has been in bed since 9:00. It's soooo nice b/c then Preston and I can just hang out or do things like post a blog or read a Fantasy Football magazine after he is in bed. :)

Five Generations

Not everyone gets to have their picture made with their great great grandmother. Chase is one of the lucky ones. :)

Preston, Chase, Lucy, and I all visited my parents this weekend (I had a wedding to go to). We had a great time. Chase did awesome on the trip down there and back. He slept most of the time. He even slept really great at night. Saturday was officially his first night to "sleep through the night". (I read that 6 hours at a time technically means sleeping through the night.) He slept for 6 and half hours!!! Way to go Chase! It was a great first road trip.

Anyway here is the five-generation picture. My great grandmother (Chase's great great) is 97 years old. Believe it or not her twin sister lives with her at the nursing home (pictured). And of course I had to add a few more pictures of our family.

Aunt Leah has Arrived

Chase would like everyone to know that his new baby sitter has arrived in OKC. Leah is starting school at OC as a freshman this year and we're so glad she's here!

We had a great weekend with my family getting Leah (and her roommate Ashley) all moved in. Her dorm room looks really cool. The whole process made me think back on when I moved into the dorms for the first time at ACU. Man, those were fun times. I got out the old college days scrap book and made myself downright depressed. I'm over it now but I sure do miss all the college buddies. :( Here's some memories for all you ACUers who keep up with our blog...

Sleepy?...Then go to sleep already!

Why don't babies go to sleep when they are sleepy? I don't get it. I don't know how many times last night I rocked Chase to sleep or got him back to sleep after he was in his crib only to have him wake right back up. One time in particular I was rocking him on my shoulder and he fell asleep, he even had the deep sleep breathing going on, and when I took him to the crib and leaned all the way down with him into the crib, only letting go at the last second, and when I stood back up straight his eyes were wide open. Not crying...just kind of a happy "nice try mom" grin on his face. How do you get mad at a happy smiling baby? A few hours later at 1:00 in the morning when he's still not asleep, that's how. So for the second night in a row I fell asleep on the couch to Baby Einstein while Chase sat in his swing until he was finally out at 1:30. But I guess it's not so bad since he does sleep in in the mornings and it's not like he was crying all night...he was just awake. I just need him to shift that sleep time back at least 2 hours. :) Thank goodness it's Friday. Preston has late nights on the weekends! woo-hoo!

Here's some fun video from last weekend. I am holding Chase and the whole family, 5 people, with 3 different cameras and 1 video camera were trying to capture Chase's smile. Listen to the reaction! He's been smiling so much lately. He now likes the "Little Piggy Went to Market" game. He thinks that's funny. :)

A Fun Time With Family

Chase got to meet his Great Grandma and his great Aunt this weekend! Very fun. We had a great time with the two of them as well as Preston's parents. Butch and Melanie (aka Daddy Butch and Mama Mel) were here from Tuesday to Sunday and were a tremendous help. Chase had a few bad nights and it was so great to have them here to help out. I like to think that now Chase is back on track with his days and nights but you never know what tonight will bring. I'm sure he'll do great.

Today was the first day that I got to go back to the gym to my step class! It was really fun! I just feel so much better when I'm getting exercise regularly. Preston kept Chase while I went to the gym and then Preston went jogging when I got home. He jogged to the grocery store and bought some macaroni and cheese. Yep...that's right...he jogged to get exercise and then came home and we had a healthy serving of mac cheese. haha. Oh well.

This coming weekend my mom and dad are moving my sister Leah here to college. She's very excited...and so am I!

This is a picture of Chase in his new Exersaucer that his Great Mema and Great Aunt Sharon bought him. :) He'll love it when he's a little bigger! Thank you guys!

Some Good Pictures

So Chase has had a rough last few days. But today has been great! He's just been a perfect little angel today. The two of us are having a great Monday together. (Though we're ready for Preston to come home. :) The day started out great because he was lying on my bed this morning when I came over to pick him up as I was singing to him and HE SMILED AT ME! I know he was smiling this time. It was so cute. I got him to do it several times. He was looking right at me and I could tell in his eyes that it was the real thing and not just an accident. I really hope we can get him to do it again when Preston gets home!

We had a super fun weekend. Luke and Sara were here from Austin and we had a great time. I just wish that Chase hadn't been in such a bad mood most of the time they were here. Maybe we didn't scare them too much...they are expecting in late October.

Preston's parents will be here tomorrow for a visit!

Here are a few cute pictures recently taken of Chase. Click here to see these and more...

The Baby Swing is AWESOME!

Hey everyone! First, let me give an apology to all of you who think that I'm a blogging slacker....because, well, I am. I'll try to do better. I know that many of you (grandparents in particular) would like to see more pictures and updates. :)

Now to the title of this blog...baby swings are awesome! Chase loves his! He has to be in a fairly good mood to put him in it but once he's there, he'll just sit there and hang out or fall asleep. Today I also tried out the Baby Einstein video that we have. It was so amazing...it seemed to me that he was actually watching it for a while. My cousins call it baby crack. There may be some truth to that.

You know what else is awesome...gas drops. We had a few bad days and one seriously bad day...lots of crying, etc. After using the drops, all has been great ever since. I actually had time to write a blog entry at the end of the bad day but I decided not to since I would probable have said something not very nice. I remember thinking a few times that day, "What have I done!!?" But that moment passed and everything is great now.

Leah (my sister) came back for a visit and it was very helpful having her here. She is also a very good cook and made dinner and a pie for Preston and I. Thanks Leah! Sara and Luke are coming for a visit this weekend (they are on their way right now), and Preston's parents are coming next week and staying about 6 days. While they are here, Preston's Mema and Aunt Sharon are coming from Alabama for a couple of days! We're really excited to see everyone.

Man it is REALLY raining out side. It hasn't rained in ages and all the sudden it is completely pouring and the wind is crazy...and it kind of even looks like the sun is shining. Weird!

Here are a couple of pictures from the last few days. My friend Jen let me borrow a sling and it has been great. The other is of Chase in his new fireman P.J.s. What do you think granddaddy! (Chase's granddaddy, my dad is a fireman for those of you who don't know.)

The wind has completely stopped and it's just barely sprinkling now. Crazy Oklahoma weather!

Welcome!

This is a Blog all about Chase Watterson and his family (mom-Sara and dad-Preston). It is a continuation of his Baby Blog (sarasbabyblog.blogspot.com). We'll be telling you all about the new things that Chase does as he grows up...and we may even tell you a little about what's going on in Preston and Sara's lives too.

Chase was born 15 whole days ago on July 12th, 2005. He has been a really good baby so far. He has had lots of firsts in the last two weeks...first bath, first stroller ride, first walk around our neighborhood, first lick in the face by a little white maltese dog, first melt-down (melt-down = uncontrollable crying session), first sleep on his daddy's chest, first attendance at a softball game, first time at the mall, first blow-out (blow-out = poopy diaper that actually blows out of the diaper, yuck!), first smile (most people would call it gas but I say it was a smile), first breath of air, etc.

Chase had his 2-week doctor appointment yesterday. Everything looks good. He is now 8 pounds, 13 1/2 ounces and 21 inches long. He is just about back up to his birth weight (8, 14). He will go back when he is 2 months old.

I never imagined we would go through the number of diapers and wipes that we go through! Funny story: I gave him a bath the other day and I changed his diaper before we started b/c he was dirty. Then I bathed him (we're still doing the sponge bath). When I took off his diaper to wash his bottom he sprayed everywhere including all over the diaper I was about to put on him. So I got another one and put it on and as I was latching it he pooped in that diaper. So I got another diaper and put it on him. Wow! That's 4 diapers in about 10 minutes!
