Click here to see more of Chase's Christmas pictures!

We're all moms....so crazy. I mean, how old are we! ;) I'll post a picture of all of us when one of them forwards me one. (So don't forget to send me one guys!) Chase also got to meet some of our cousins that live in A-town. It was actually the first time for me to meet one of them. Boone is a few months younger than Chase. We shopped, went to step class, ate at our favorite restaurants, and just hung out and talked. We actually stayed up kinda late. (I mean, by the time to get a 2 month old, a 5 month old, and a 2 1/2 year old to bed, you have to stay up late to get any good catching up in.) Chase was really good on the trip too. He either slept or just sat there "talking" or watched Baby Einstein on the lap top.
Wow...it's 15 degrees outside right now and there is snow on the ground! The high today was 18 so Chase and I didn't venture outdoors. The most I did outside was take this picture (sorry it's a little blurry) and go get the mail. Sadly enough I'm still in my pajamas from last night! haha. Preston is out on business but Leah and her roommate Asheley are going to spend the night with me. I was about to go crazy with cabin fever until they came over! Now we're watching Christmas Vacation...what a clasic!

After being in Houston for a few days we went to Austin to visit our friends Sara and Luke and their new baby, Cooper. We had a great few days visiting them. This picture shows with great detail the difference between a 4 month old and a 1 month old! haha.

A few days ago Preston, Chase and I went to eat at a new restaurant in town. Chase sat in his carrier most of the time but after we were pretty much done eating he wanted out. I picked him up and sat him in my lap. My plate was already gone and I pulled my drink to me to take a sip. Before I knew what was happening Chase grabbed the rim of the cup and pulled it over on us. Man was it cold! Fortunately it got mostly on me (Chase would have cried had more of my ice cold water gotten on him.) Preston and I just looked at each other and said "so it begins." He's starting to grab everything...we'll have to clear out a space in front of him whenever we go out to eat now!
Here's a good picture from Wendi and Wade's shower that we went to a couple of weekends ago that I just got. They are getting married next month! Mama Mel bought Chase a tux to wear! You'll have to be looking for pictures of that coming soon!
works, sometimes it doesn't), he sits in his exersaucer and loves it (pictured), and not to mention that he and his infant carrier are getting REALLY heavy to carry around! I feel like I should be gaining a ton of muscle in my arms...too bad they don't look it.
Chase: So Chase is 3 months old today! Wow! Where is the time going?! He's really a lot of fun right now. He's very interactive and likes to smile at everyone. He's starting to be very interested in his feet and hands. He'll be grabbing toys and everything else with those hands before I know it! I keep catching the little stinker trying to suck his thumb (pictured). I try not to let him but I may not win this battle.
Weather: When I got up this morning it was 50 something outside....I don't know if it still is or not but it's pretty chilly! I love it...for now. :) I was really getting tired of the super hot weather all the way through September. Yesterday as the cold front rolled in I decided to take Lucy and Chase for a walk. I bundled Chase up with a blankie and I put my coat on and off we went. We were a good ways from the house when low and behold it started sprinkling. I put Chase's shades over him and my hood on me and took off back to the house at a jog....then it started raining harder. What can you do but laugh and run faster...poor Lucy, I just drug her along...Chase was smiling through the whole thing though!
Leah found that his thighs are ticklish...so cute when he laughs about that! He'll have a "conversation" with me by making "ah" noises and then I'll do it back and then he'll do it again. He'll also hang onto a toy and put it in his mouth if I actually put the toy in his hand...he still hasn't gotten the grabbing thing down.
(the hatch and the guy in it) was probably all a big experiment and the guys that set it up are sitting back having a good laugh seeing if he would continue to put in the numbers and press the button. Now Jack and John seem to be sucked into this "experiment" where they feel that they just have to press the button every 108 minutes...all for nothing... Now here we are, the audience, sucked into watching Lost and feel that we have to gather in front of the TV every week and read all their fake websites and the guys back at ABC are sitting back having a good laugh seeing if we, the viewers, will continue to do it, watching the show and visiting websites that are all for nothing. We're just a greater experiment. But you know what, I'll gladly take up the challenge and be a part of this thing because there's no way I'm missing it next Wednesday!
My friend Heidi told me that she thinks odd numbered ages seem older than even ones. Think about it. I think she's right. Anywho, Preston took off work early yesterday so that he, Chase, and I could spend the afternoon together. We ran some errands, went shopping with my birthday money, ate sushi at the mall, and had a couple of friends over for dinner and a friendly game of Lord of the Rings Monopoly. That's right...you heard me...Lord of the Rings Monopoly. Pretty fun game...for Monopoly. Although I think they should have let me win since it was my birthday. Today Chase and I are just hanging out around the house. We may go for a walk at the park later. The weather is awesome here! I'm hoping to go out to eat at the Olive Garden tonight as a Birthday+1 treat. :)
Preston and I had our church class retreat this weekend. It was really fun. For the third year running we were the retreat planners. I think we pulled off another good one. We stayed in a cabin on the Illinois River and some of us even went on a 3 hour float. We had a really good time. Mom and dad kept Chase for us over the weekend at our house. Chase did really well for them and I'm sure the grandparents had a blast too! I managed to eat my weight in junk food over the last few days! It's always dangerous for everyone to bring their own snacks to share. :) We also played lots of board games and volleyball too. I was sure ready to come home on Sunday and see my little boy though!

So I'm trying really hard to be interested in Fantasy Football this year. Since it's something that Preston is really into I'm thinking it will be fun for us to keep track of it together and it might just make me more interested in the games since they will be on in my house anyway. So Preston is in 3 leagues and I am in one. We are both in a league with some of our church friends. I'm not too sure that at this point my team is doing so well. We'll see. I'm still working on the "interested" part. I just slept through the first game we sat down to watch together. And I'm still working on learning player's names. The other day Melanie asked me some of my players that I had picked for this week and I couldn't even remember them. haha.
Maybe next week Mel. Ask me again. :)
I was pregnant. We tried to sit in it earlier this week but it was so hot we couldn't even put our legs in....I mean, we could have cooked dinner in there!)
Much like his mom and dad he seems to really like to go places. There is nothing Preston and I would rather spend our money on than traveling. As you may know, last weekend we traveled to my home town (4.5 hours normally...5.5 with Chase) but this weekend was quite a bit further (9 hours). Of course we did take a major detour b/c someone missed the exit and didn't realize it for a really long time.
I won't say who was driving but I can tell you it wasn't me. :) We had a fun time just hanging out and going out on the lake. The boys even got a game of golf in. Preston's parents even drove in from Houston just to babysit Chase while we were out on the lake on Saturday! Talk about above and beyond grandparenting! Then on Monday, the three of us headed out to Austin to visit Chase's Aunt Wendi and almost Uncle Wade (they're getting married in November...and Chase has a tux to wear!...but that's another story). That was really fun and I would like to add that Wade and I killed Preston and Wendi in Spades. :) It was a great weekend...and with every good weekend comes a few mishaps to remember. Here are a few:
carrier) on the table. We were eating our lunch when we could clearly hear that he was going "number 2". I thought, OK I'll change his diaper as soon as we get done. But then I looked into his seat and saw that he had had a major blow out. Great. So I picked up his carrier to take him out to the car (no, Taco Cabana does not have a changing table in the bathroom) and quickly found that not only had his diaper leaked into his seat...but it had actually leaked through the seat leaving a nice little puddle right there on our table in the restaurant! I made a bee-line to get outta there with Chase and left Preston there with the rest of his lunch and the "mess." haha. I don't think I can clearly describe it but it must have been a funny sight seeing these two new parents in the parking lot trying to "hose down" a poopy 2 month old. We ended up having to take the liner out of the car seat and just putting blankets in it for him to sit on the rest of the way home! What can you do but laugh.... :)

Chase would like everyone to know that his new baby sitter has arrived in OKC. Leah is starting school at OC as a freshman this year and we're so glad she's here!
I was rocking him on my shoulder and he fell asleep, he even had the deep sleep breathing going on, and when I took him to the crib and leaned all the way down with him into the crib, only letting go at the last second, and when I stood back up straight his eyes were wide open. Not crying...just kind of a happy "nice try mom" grin on his face. How do you get mad at a happy smiling baby? A few hours later at 1:00 in the morning when he's still not asleep, that's how. So for the second night in a row I fell asleep on the couch to Baby Einstein while Chase sat in his swing until he was finally out at 1:30. But I guess it's not so bad since he does sleep in in the mornings and it's not like he was crying all night...he was just awake. I just need him to shift that sleep time back at least 2 hours. :) Thank goodness it's Friday. Preston has late nights on the weekends! woo-hoo!
Chase got to meet his Great Grandma and his great Aunt this weekend! Very fun. We had a great time with the two of them as well as Preston's parents. Butch and Melanie (aka Daddy Butch and Mama Mel) were here from Tuesday to Sunday and were a tremendous help. Chase had a few bad nights and it was so great to have them here to help out.
I like to think that now Chase is back on track with his days and nights but you never know what tonight will bring. I'm sure he'll do great.
Preston kept Chase while I went to the gym and then Preston went jogging when I got home. He jogged to the grocery store and bought some macaroni and cheese. Yep...that's right...he jogged to get exercise and then came home and we had a healthy serving of mac cheese. haha. Oh well.
This coming weekend my mom and dad are moving my sister Leah here to college. She's very excited...and so am I!
Now to the title of this blog...baby swings are awesome! Chase loves his! He has to be in a fairly good mood to put him in it but once he's there, he'll just sit there and hang out or fall asleep. Today I also tried out the Baby Einstein video that we have. It was so amazing...it seemed to me that he was actually watching it for a while. My cousins call it baby crack. There may be some truth to that.
While they are here, Preston's Mema and Aunt Sharon are coming from Alabama for a couple of days! We're really excited to see everyone.
Chase was born 15 whole days ago on July 12th, 2005. He has been a really good baby so far. He has had lots of firsts in the last two weeks...first bath, first stroller ride, first walk around our neighborhood, first lick in the face by a little white maltese dog, first melt-down (melt-down = uncontrollable crying session), first sleep on his daddy's chest, first attendance at a softball game, first time at the mall, first blow-out (blow-out = poopy diaper that actually blows out of the diaper, yuck!), first smile (most people would call it gas but I say it was a smile), first breath of air, etc.
